alasdair roberts spoils album features alasdairs old hands from appendix out (tom crossley and gareth eggie) as well as free percussionist xtraordinaire alex nielson, noted baroque guitarist gordon ferries, emily maclaren, niko matti ahti (of finnish free pop duo kiila), and david mcguinness and alison mcgillivray (both of scotlands concerto caledonia), bringing a loose and lively mixture of drums, bass, piano, flute, glockenspiel, harpsichord, harmonium, viola, synthesizer, dulcimer, psaltery, hurdy gurdy, fiddle, and of course guitars and voices. spoils has a lot on deck, but its meted out evenly and with an intense energy, always in service of the songs, which are marked with some of alasdairs finest melodies. additionally, spoils ingratiates new compositions in a deeply personal manner with the world of traditional music that has sunk beyond the horizon for too many of us. it is a gift to these latter days that a man like roberts exists, to sing us back to our ancient home.

(both played by the big players like dj hell, laurent garnier george morel oder someone else aso.) he has now moved further and adds three brilliant tracks to the afulab catalogue. the driving and tension loaded bango banger opens on the main side with it s shuffling bongos and hands-in-the-air-and-scream frequency shifting sounds. this will surely rock big time and will leave no one unmoved and bored.the second track and the opener of the flipside drug pipe is another thrilling and funnily weird rocker that might be inspired by too much input to the maker ,-) der nougat baer rounds it up and shows that felix bernhardt is a promising new producer who will leave his marks and we are looking forward to hear his new material already

love and money front man james grant has collaborated with producer gordy goudie to form the korvids, releasing a dance album. for the older generation who might want to bust a move once more in honour of their younger selves. james says, i wanted to be someone else for a while. sound different. write different. it can be dreary being me all the time..i sing most of my vocals on the record in falsetto, which, as we know, is the international language of disco. the korvids marry their love of disco and 70 s funk with influences such as deodato, massive attack, miles and anything else that takes their fancy. after the success of their debut release beach coma, which was picked up by sirius us radio and remixed by balaeric legend jose padilla, the duo released bad faith, a beauteous cut of late 70 s disco remixed by love & money and steely dan s producer gary katz. james was the front man for love and money, everyone s favourite band from the 1980 s who should have been massive but somehow werent. the other half of the korvids, gordy goudie, is also no stranger to the business having produced simple minds and playing bass and guitar for the primevals and echo and the bunnymen.
